South Valley’s U17 girls’ team took first place in the Southern California National Premier League this past weekend. After finishing bracket play on Saturday morning, they advanced to the quarter-final match where they defeated the Carlsbad Elite G95 2-0. On Sunday morning, they defeated Platinum (Inland Empire SURF) G95 2-1 in the semi-finals, and then they met Albion’s G95 team in the finals on Sunday afternoon. The score of the game was 1-1 through regulation and over-time periods! South Valley won the match in PKs, going 9-shooters deep with Goalkeeper, Kate Hamilton, forcing one shot error and making two saves. Nikki Barnes tucked with winning shot past Albion’s out-stretched goalkeeper to claim the victory! The team will now travel to Colorado this summer to compete in the National League’s Championship which includes the first-place finishers from all sixteen US Club Soccer National Leagues. Great job, G95s and coach Shelby Klippel!!
