The second annual Thunder Winter Challenge was a huge success with just under sixty teams in attendance, nice weather, and a weekend of great soccer! South Valley turned in a great result with Championship or Finalist standings, as follows:

12u boys: South Valley B2008 Garces, Champion; and South Valley B2009 Carter, Finalist
13u boys: South Valley B2007 Howlett, Champion
10u girls: South Valley G2011 McFee, Finalist
11u girls: South Valley G2010 Butterbredt, Finalist
14u girls: South Valley G2006 Herrera, Champion

South Valley’s Board of Directors is proud to announce that we will represent the Surf brand as South Valley Surf, an affiliate of LA Surf. This is a partnership we began earlier this summer with excellent results for numerous South Valley players who have had opportunities to augment their practice schedules and to play in Boys’ ECNL and in girls’ Development Academy matches with LA Surf. In addition to these player opportunities our affiliation will also provide additional top-level league and college showcase opportunities for South Valley Surf teams. (Press Release Attached)

Avery Collins will be extending her soccer career at Vanguard University in beautiful Costa Mesa, CA! While there, Avery will major in Nursing. Avery is a current member of Coach Jason Carter’s G00 team; however, she was coached in previous years by Lorne Howlett. Great job, Avery!

Another member of Jason Carter’s G2002/01 team has committed to play collegiate soccer. Thalia (AKA ‘T’) will be attending New Mexico State University to compete at the Division 1 level in the Western Athletic Conference in the fall of 2021. She will be pursuing a degree in Communications/Social Work. Great job, T!
