South Valley Thunder had two teams win championships at the Davis Legacy College Showcase earlier this month. G01 Howlett and G02 Carter both won their divisions, defeating teams from the western U.S. Their matches were well attended by college coaches, and the girls had a great time competing! A job well done.

Savannah Aborqui Signs with La Sierra

Savannah Aborqui has signed to extend her soccer career with La Sierra University in Riverside where she will study Biology to prepare for an advanced medical degree. Savannah is a member of South Valley’s G98 Carter squad and a 2017 Highland High School graduate. Great job Vannah!!

Michelle Vargas will extend her soccer career at Peninsula College located on Washington state’s beautiful Olympic Peninsula. Michelle is a member of Jason Carter’s G98 team, and she will study Kinesiology/Sport Medicine while playing for the North Western Athletic Conference’s perennial national power-house. Great job, Michelle!!

South Valley Thunder teams had a very successful 2016 Coast Soccer League season! As a club we finished 115 wins, 69 losses and 24 ties. Special congratulations go out to the following teams placing in the top three of their brackets:

G03 Gore
G02 Howlett
G01 Howlett

Additionally, G06 Gore progressed to the Quarterfinals of CSL League Cup! Great job everyone. Way to represent South Valley and Bakersfield in one of the country’s most competitive youth soccer leagues!

We are pleased to announce our South Valley winter Academy for 6 to 8 year-old players interested in improving their soccer skills! The program will begin on Tuesday, January 10, with sessions held each Tuesday and Thursday from January 10 through March 30, 2017. The training curriculum is specifically designed to help young players improve their soccer skills and basic knowledge of the game while having a positive, fun experience. Sessions will be held at Polo Park.

The cost is $60 per month per player with a $30 registration/equipment fee. If you have questions about the Academy, please visit our page called ‘About Our Academy’ on the side menu bar or call Coach Shelby Carter at 951-288-5788.
