Cal South announced the players named to their Pro+ State ID pools this spring. South Valley G97 Carter had two players selected! Kristen Amarikwa and Reigna Banks. Kristen and Reigna were selected to participate in the seventy-player G98 pool this spring which will be used to form Cal South’s G98 Olympic Development Roster. Coach Jason Carter and the entire South Valley Soccer Club are excited and wish Kristen and Reigna the best of luck!

This past weekend numerous South Valley Thunder teams competed in the CaliCrown Classic here in Bakersfield. Overall, our club was very well represented. We had six teams who were either age-bracket champions or finalists competing against teams from all over central and southern California! G02 Lynch, G02 Shwora, and G99 Howlett were bracket finalists. Bracket Champions included B03 Lynch, G04 Chambers, and G01 Lynch. Great job Thunder teams!!!

The Bakersfield Californian announced its All-Area selections for the 2013/14 high school season. South Valley players were splashed all over the pages!! The list is long at twenty-nine All-Area selections, including Hannah Rehkopf (Bakersfield Christian HS), Co-Player of the year. In addition, South Valley players comprised eleven of the sixteen girls selected for the First Team. Graduating seniors, Tala Haddad (Stockdale HS) and Kate Hamilton (Garces Memorial HS) have been honored with Area First Team selections their Sophomore through Senior years.

We are also proud to mention our first All-Area boys’ selection, Teague Romero, playing at Frontier HS and coached at South Valley by Jeff LaForce. In the coming years, we expect to see a growing number of our South Valley boys join the ranks of Bakersfield’s great high school players!

South Valley SC’s soccer skills training program for 4 and 5-year-olds begins on April 22. This is a tract of twelve sessions specifically designed for very young players to have fun while learning soccer fundamentals. The sessions are run by coach Shelby Carter. Wow . . . what a ride! South Valley’s G02 team, coached by Troy Lynch, began their 2014 President’s State Cup run on February 15 and eight matches later, they found themselves playing in this prestigious tournament’s Final Four! Even though they lost the semi-final match to the Eagles, the girls played excellent soccer at the highest level in CalSouth. Along the way, they defeated teams from Legends, CSC San Diego, MB Sand & Surf, FC Golden State, Fullerton Rangers, and West Coast FC United. History was made with the G02’s going the deepest of any South Valley team in a national State Cup tournament. Great job girls!
