Three South Valley SC teams advanced to the State Cup Quarter Finals during this winter/spring’s 2012 competitions! That’s an outstanding result and great representation for our club in one of southern California’s most popularly played multi-weekend tournaments. Playing in the Governor’s division, our U10 girls’ team coached by Troy Lynch lost in PKs to the eventual finalist. Our U13 girls’ team (coached by Dominic Othart) and our U14 girls’ team (coached by Jeff Darling/Jason Carter) both played in the President’s division. Each lost by a single goal margin in the Quarter Finals. Great job girls!!

Bianca Savarese, a mid-fielder on the South Valley G93 team, has signed to attend and play soccer at Illinois College. Her goal is to become a medical doctor. Because of her academic excellence, she has been awarded the Illinois College Trustee Scholarship providing her full tuition! Congratulations, Bianca!

South Valley SC has opened up the tournament season with a great win at the legendary Celtic Cup. Our girls’ U10 team, coached by Troy Lynch, notched four wins to decisively bring the cup home! In the process, they scored fifteen goals and only allowed two. The final match was a 2-0 defeat over LA Premier FC. The girls had a great time playing and were thrilled with the win. Awesome job!

South Valley’s two college-prep teams had strong finishes in their college showcase tounaments over Thanksgiving weekend. Our G93 team, coached by Jason Carter, progressed into the quarter-finals of the Nomands Thanksgiving Tournament, losing in PKs. Our G95 team, coached by Shelby Klippel, won all three of their games at the Carlsbad Elite ‘November Nights’ college showcase. Both teams had numerous perspective college coaches attend their games, and we wish them the best in their recruiting process!

South Valley had a number of teams finish among the top of their respective fall league brackets. For Coast Soccer League teams, this has made five of our teams eligible for 2012/13 league promotion requests:

- G93, 1st place Gold, coached by Jason Carter
- G95, 2nd place Gold, coached by Shelby Klippel
- G98, 2nd place Silver Elite North, coached by Dominic Othart
- G00, 3rd place Bronze North, coached by Monica Chambers
- G01, 2nd place Bronze North, coached by Troy Lynch

Additionally, our G02 team, coached by Jay Gore, played in the Bakersfield Girls’ Soccer League this year and won the U10 division as a U9 team.
