South Valley Girls Win at CaliCrown!

Many of South Valley’s girls’ teams had an excellent weekend of youth soccer competition at the CaliCrown Classic, hosted in Bakersfield. South Valley’s G02 team, coached by Troy Lynch, won the girls’ U10 bracket, scoring 31 goals in four games of competition, and all four were shut-outs! They defeated Madrid Premier in the final match of the tournament. In the U12 Silver bracket, Coach Lynch’s U11 girls’ team swept the older teams, scoring 15 goals and only allowing two to be scored against them. South Valley’s G00 Flores took second place in the U12 Silver bracket, and South Valley G00 Chambers, coached by Monica Chambers, finshed as Champions of the U12 Gold bracket! They defeated the Sherman Oaks Extreme in the finals match, 4-3. Great job, South Valley girls!!!

South Valley’s U17 girls’ team took first place in the Southern California National Premier League this past weekend. After finishing bracket play on Saturday morning, they advanced to the quarter-final match where they defeated the Carlsbad Elite G95 2-0. On Sunday morning, they defeated Platinum (Inland Empire SURF) G95 2-1 in the semi-finals, and then they met Albion’s G95 team in the finals on Sunday afternoon. The score of the game was 1-1 through regulation and over-time periods! South Valley won the match in PKs, going 9-shooters deep with Goalkeeper, Kate Hamilton, forcing one shot error and making two saves. Nikki Barnes tucked with winning shot past Albion’s out-stretched goalkeeper to claim the victory! The team will now travel to Colorado this summer to compete in the National League’s Championship which includes the first-place finishers from all sixteen US Club Soccer National Leagues. Great job, G95s and coach Shelby Klippel!!

South Valley’s G95 team, coached by Shelby Klippel, competed in the Players’ College Showcase this past weekend in Las Vegas. They played four matches against top-ranked teams from Washington, Alaska, Nevada and Minnesota. In doing so the won three, lost one, scored eleven goals and only had two goals scored against. They walked away with a first place finish in their nine-team bracket and were given the opportunity to play in front of scores of college coaches!

South Valley G01 Ventura Fusion Champ!

Notch another tournament win for a South Valley girls’ team! The G01s, coached by Troy Lynch won the Ventura County Fusion Spring Cup this past weekend. The girls played an attack-brand of soccer, racking up 21 goals scored and only giving up 1 goal. Their defeats included teams from Westside Breakers, Pats and Moorpark. Great job girls!
